The image of Athens is changing, highlighting its history and offering a unique tour of its archaeological treasures. The Ministry of Culture (MoC) has announced a major project aimed at the functional and aesthetic enhancement of the archaeological sites of the Ancient Agora and Kerameikos. With a total budget of 5.8 million euros, funded by the Recovery Fund, the project aims to improve the visitor experience while ensuring universal accessibility. Its completion is expected by the end of the current year.<\/span><\/p>\n

The company <\/span>Lever \u2013 Development Consultants S.A.<\/b>, a member of the <\/span>Samaras & Associates Group<\/b>, has contributed responsibly and honorably to this initiative by providing consulting services to the Ephorate of Antiquities of Athens. This contribution was in the form of drafting a <\/span>“Framework Plan for the protection, enhancement, and management of the archaeological site, and planning restoration interventions for the monuments of the Ancient Agora.”<\/b><\/p>\n

The purpose of the project is to organize and implement prioritized interventions to preserve, highlight, and promote the values of the archaeological sites and the unique characteristics of their monuments.<\/span><\/p>\n

The Framework Plan, prepared and submitted by Lever \u2013 Development Consultants S.A., outlines the overall design of the project for the Ancient Agora. It serves a dual role\u2014as a synthesis of ideas and proposals addressing all related matters\u2014to create an accessible, open, modernly equipped, welcoming, and evocative environment, worthy of the timeless social, political, and cultural values that were born in this place and gained global significance. More specifically, it includes:<\/span><\/p>\n

  • Improvement of access conditions<\/b> through the restoration and enhancement of the walkability of ancient pathways and the creation of new routes to ensure all visitors can tour the site.<\/span><\/li>\n
  • Creation of resting and viewing areas<\/b> in selected locations, corresponding to open spaces as they existed in antiquity.<\/span><\/li>\n
  • Aesthetic and functional upgrade of infrastructure<\/b>, including water management, fire protection systems, urban equipment, and visitor facilities at the site entrances.<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>
