The company “Lever – Development Consultants S.A.”, a member of the “Samaras & Associates” group, in collaboration with the Contracting Authority D.E.Y.A of Livadia, is carrying out the Study for the Preparation of the Water Safety Plan (SAN) of the Municipality of Levadea, Central Greece Region. The SAN is a dynamic and practical tool for the effective safeguarding of the water supply system, in addition to the current legislation and the applicable regulatory provisions.<\/p>

Specifically, the Municipality of Levadeion, after this specific study, is going to ensure for the benefit of its citizens:<\/p>

\u2022 the minimization of the presence of pollutants in drinking water from the source<\/p>

\u2022 the proper treatment of water so that it is suitable for drinking
\u2022 the proper distribution in water supply networks, regardless of the size of these networks<\/p>

Within the framework of these specific studies, sampling and chemical analyses are carried out in combination with on-site inspections at water supply points (springs, boreholes) and a continuous review of the entire network. In this way, the prevention of the inflow of pollutants into the network and the safeguarding of public health are achieved more effectively than only by applying chemical analyses, which are costly and for this reason are carried out at infrequent intervals.<\/p>

Additionally, the existence of a SNA ensures that the younger generations of personnel who will take up duties in each P.E.Y.A. will have in their possession a series of clear instructions for continuing the work of their predecessors, without requiring them to learn the entire network from scratch.<\/p>

The Municipality of Levadea’s SAN Study concerns its implementation in all of the approximately twenty-five (25) regional networks of the Municipality of Levadea, as well as in the main network of the city. At this stage, the company “Lever – Development Consultants S.A.” has completed the recording of the current situation in a Geographic Information System (GIS), while the SAN working group and the full description of all water supply networks have been established, with parallel planning and definition of the necessary control measures. The working group carries out the operational monitoring of the networks and control measures, in order to certify their effectiveness and, subsequently, the SAN will be gradually revised\/improved, where deemed necessary. The Study is expected to be completed by the end of March 2023.<\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t
