The Unified Digital Map is now in pilot operation at https://sdigmap-dev.tee.gov.gr/sdmquery/public/. The development of this map, part of Greece’s National Recovery and Resilience Plan Greece 2.0, and specifically the action “16960 – Smart Environmental and Cultural Infrastructures,” is nearing completion. The trial phase has begun, and according to the Technical Chamber of Greece (TEE), the system will enter full operational mode in the coming weeks.

The Unified Digital Map is one of the most important geospatial data infrastructures. Its goal is to create an integrated information system that gathers, systematizes, and incorporates digital geospatial information maintained by various public administration and e-governance bodies. This information relates to property ownership, construction, land use, exploitation, or protection, and will be made available in an interoperable format through a single online platform.

The aim is to improve and expand services for citizens, public and private sector entities, and investors, by offering comprehensive “one-stop-shop” services for economic and investment activities related to construction in the fields of tourism, productive and business operations, public property development, and housing.

At the same time, it will support the efficiency of public authorities, by providing all necessary information for better decision-making, more rational management of financial and human resources, and the implementation of corrective and development actions aligned with strategic goals.

The project will utilize all relevant data needed to facilitate business activity, such as:
(a) Building terms and restrictions,

(b) Land use regulations,

(c) Urban planning maps,

(d) Cadastral parcels,

(e) Forest areas,

(f) Natura 2000 sites or special habitat protection areas,

(g) Coastal, beach, and port zones,

(h) Protected areas.

This information will contribute to faster licensing processes for business activities, reduce bureaucracy, and improve citizen services.
