I am a Forester – Ornithologist and since 1988 I have been involved in the research and protection of nature and in particular wild bird fauna. I have completed postgraduate studies at the Department of Biology of the Aristotle University of Thessaloniki with the subject of protected area management and at the Department of Ecology of the University of Lund (Sweden) with the subject of population and evolutionary ecology with a scholarship from the Hellenic National Fund. I have been professionally involved for more than 30 years with the delimitation, mapping, monitoring and management of protected areas of the Natura 2000 Network, with an emphasis on bird fauna but also on other protected species and habitat types. I have participated in monitoring projects, management plans, Special Environmental Studies, LIFE, Interreg programs and others, in areas throughout Greece with an emphasis on areas of Macedonia and Thrace. I have published many scientific communications and articles in my field of knowledge as well as several articles with a broader theme.
My many years of experience in the management of protected species and areas finds application in the multidimensional work of the company and in its collaborations with key partners from the local to the cross-border level. The bet of effective nature protection with parallel social and economic well-being of local populations can be won through targeted and well-planned actions, which guarantee tangible and measurable positive results.
