It is a great joy and honor for the company “Lever – Development Consultants S.A.”, a member of the “Samaras & Associates Group”, which, in collaboration with AKTOR S.A., provided consulting services for the overall support of the archaeological project of the Venizelos station from 2022 until its completion. This project involved the removal, reinstallation, restoration, and highlighting of the antiquities unearthed by many years of archaeological research to ensure their integrity.
The Venizelos station is located at the intersection of Egnatia and Venizelou streets, in the heart of the Byzantine metropolis. During the excavations, antiquities were uncovered that serve as a timeless testimony to the city’s urban planning, which remained unchanged for 17 centuries. The complexity of the Venizelos Station project is reflected in the high density of archaeological finds, ranging from late antiquity to Byzantine times. The identification of the decumanus maximus and the cardo demonstrates the flourishing urban organization of Thessaloniki.
Throughout the project, Lever – Development Consultants S.A. contributed specialized knowledge, experience, and responsibility, collaborating continuously with the contracting companies, project researchers, and the services of the Ministry of Culture. The quality of the services provided, the level of expertise in complex archaeological projects, and the respect for Greek and international legislation regarding interventions on monuments were key factors in achieving the high goals and the successful completion of an innovative project on a global scale.
Thus, a unique archaeological site was delivered as a timeless testimony to the history of Thessaloniki, integrated into the life of the city’s residents and visitors through a modern infrastructure project.
Participation in this demanding archaeological project was a matter of great importance for Lever – Development Consultants S.A. and the Samaras & Associates Group, showcasing the breadth and quality of their services with the aim of Development driven by Culture.
