National Climate Law – The role that local authorities can play in energy production – Planning and Financing Tools”

The informative workshop on the topic “National Climate Law – The role that local authorities can play in energy production – Planning and Financing Tools” was held with great success by the Regional Association of Municipalities of Central Macedonia (RAMC) in collaboration with “Lever – Development Consultants S.A.”, a member of the “Samaras & Associates” Group. The workshop took place at the Center for Digital Transformation and Digital Skills (DT&S), and concerned elected representatives of local authorities A’, as well as administrative and service executives. During the event, the developments brought about by the National Climate Law, the role that local government bodies can play in energy production through Energy Communities, as well as the importance of Planning through Municipal Emissions Reduction Plans (DERPs) and Sustainable Energy and Climate Change Management Plans (SECMs), were presented.

Ms. Anna Fragkidou, MSc, Electrical Engineer, Sector Executive of the Samara Public Sector Consultant and Associates S.A. Consulting Engineers”
Mr. George Hatzinikolaou, Environmentalist, MSc, Phd River Ecology, Director of the Environment Department of “Lever Development Consultants. S.A.”

The opening of the conference was held by the President of the Board of Directors of the Central Macedonia Regional Development Agency and Mayor of Pylaia Chortiatis, Mr. Ignatios Kaitetzidis. Among the speakers, there was an update by Mr. Alexis Boulias, Director of the Management Systems & Product Certification Sector from the company “Samaras & Associates Ltd”, who analyzed the purpose of the law, the basic concepts that govern it such as decarbonization, the role it will play in relation to energy, while significant reference was also made to the carbon footprint.

The conference concluded with the speech of Mr. Georgios Hatzinikolaou, Director of the Environment Department of “Lever Development Consultants S.A.”, who, among other things, referred to the transition to climate neutrality, adaptation to climate change and the emergency provisions for addressing the energy crisis and protecting the environment, as well as the important role of Sustainable Energy and Climate Action Plans (SDAEK).
