On Tuesday, April 15, 2023, the event titled “Gr National Event on Climate – Neutral and Smart Cities in the context of the EU CapaCITIES project” took place at the National Center for Scientific Research (NCSR) “Demokritos.”
The European Mission “100 Climate-Neutral and Smart Cities” is one of the five European Missions. Within this Mission, called “EU Mission: Climate-Neutral and Smart Cities,” 112 cities were selected after application and evaluation with the goals to:
– Become climate-neutral by 2030, ahead of the European target of 2050, and
– Act as hubs of experimentation and innovation so that all European cities can follow their example by 2050.
Six Greek cities — Athens, Thessaloniki, Ioannina, Kalamata, Kozani, and Trikala — are among the 112 selected cities.
