The process of formulating the updated Sustainable Urban Development Strategy (SUDS) 2021–2027 for the Municipality of Katerini is currently underway. In this context, a targeted consultation was successfully held on Monday, January 22, 2024, to inform local stakeholders about submitting proposals for the SUDS application within the intervention area.

In the presence of Mayor of Katerini, Mr. Ioannis Ntoumos, and the municipality’s project team, the company Lever – Development Consultants S.A., a member of the Samaras & Associates Group, acting as Support Consultant, had the opportunity to brief local stakeholders on the stages of developing the integrated strategy. They emphasized the importance of bottom-up processes in planning—from initial concepts through to the final phases.

Participants were informed about the SUDS development process, funding characteristics, eligible expenses, and the various ways they could contribute to the comprehensive sustainable development planning for the intervention area.

The event was attended by a wide range of stakeholders, including Pieriki Development Agency, the Commercial Association of Katerini, the Katerini Chamber of Commerce, representatives of the Technical Chamber of Greece, the Association of Parents, Guardians, and Friends of People with Disabilities of Pieria, the Pieria Cycling Club, a representative of the Environment Department of the Regional Unit of Pieria, as well as citizen groups. These participants submitted their views regarding the formulation of the updated SUDS for the Municipality, along with proposals for addressing the area’s most significant issues and needs.
