The company “Lever Development Consultants S.A.”, a member of the “Samaras & Partners” Group, in collaboration with Choose S.A., implemented the Publicity Project to inform, raise awareness, and promote the Smart City Solutions and Technologies in the Municipality of Markopoulo-Mesogeia. This was done within the framework of the Antonis Tritsis Program, call AT8, by the Ministry of the Interior.
The Municipality of Markopoulo-Mesogeia is implementing a program to apply various Intelligent Solutions and Technologies that will enhance the quality of life for its citizens and visitors. Gradually, smart pedestrian crossings, smart benches, and other smart urban equipment are being installed, alongside a digital Smart City platform.
The Smart City platform will integrate data and functions from individual smart applications and provide services to citizens, businesses, and municipal staff. The diverse utilization of the data generated through the platform will be used to improve the municipality’s future planning.
As part of the procurement of smart urban equipment, the Municipality will install:
- Smart Pedestrian Crossing System, an innovative system for safe pedestrian crossing in the intervention area. Through automatic pedestrian presence detection, it will highlight waiting and crossing points with strong LED lighting and, most importantly, enhance drivers’ timely recognition of pedestrians, thereby improving road safety according to the EN13201 standard. Each system will be installed at twelve (12) locations within the municipal road network to detect pedestrians about to cross, using a smart sensor system and touch buttons.
- Ten (10) energy-autonomous, multifunctional rest stations (smart benches) to meet modern needs and understand citizens’ behaviors and desires. Essentially, the smart bench will be a seating element with a unique design that attracts attention and offers free electronic device charging and free internet access via a WiFi access point during rest. Additionally, the architecture and modern design of these rest stations will convey to residents and visitors the presence of a modern municipality that addresses them with today’s technology, communication, and quality of life standards. It will also demonstrate that the municipality provides youth living and engaging within its boundaries, a contemporary urban environment aligned with today’s living conditions.
The CEO of Lever Development Consultants S.A., Theodoros Karipidis, stated:
“The Smart City interventions we implement in various municipalities across the country enhance the quality of life of residents and visitors, gradually transforming our cities into more modern urban landscapes with the help of technology.”
The Chief Marketing Officer of Lever, Vasilis Blesios, mentioned:
